The Clos des Epenaux is one of the 10 largest monopolies in the Côtes de Beaune and Nuits. Located in the heart of the large and small Epenots, its geology is complex, with a strong presence of iron oxide. The vines are old, with an average of more than fifty years, the young vines being vinified and bottled separately (Pommard 1er cru). The Clos des Epeneaux is distinguished by a magical balance between the power of Pommard and the finesse of a great Pinot de terroir. Since 1999, when he joined the estate, Benjamin Leroux has been able to enhance this dialogue between these two characters, giving remarkable energy and definition to this exceptional plot. No mask, no seductive colouring, no deliberate over-indication disturbs the great purity of expression of Clos des Epeneaux, whatever the vintage. And if 2007 is known for its fond character in Burgundy, it is still a haughty lord who sits in the bottle, and for many years! Well done!
