Chignin-Bergeron is a wine made entirely from the Bergeron grape variety (also known as Roussanne in the Rhône Valley). Domaine Berlioz’s 2005 is full-bodied, opulent, a great wine of substance, but with every element in its place. Slight aromas of evolution begin to emerge, offering notes that are at once candied (raisin), mineral, praline, in counterpoint to the youthful allure of dried aromatics and honey. A wine intended for the table, which, due to its stature, can just as easily tease fish as it can accompany white meat.
