The 1974 Clos Joliette is surely one of the greatest wines still in good shape today. A disastrous vintage if ever there was one for the whole of the French vineyards and yet … It took people like the Migné, with their hard work, their small yields, their always late harvests, to produce great wines even in small years. This 1974 from Clos Joliette is dry, even if we guess that it must have contained some residual sugars at bottling. Endowed with a magnificent rancio on candied orange zest, intense truffle scents, the wine offers you a tonic palate with superb acidity and very nice bitters on citrus and mango. A perfect wine with sautéed scallops or shrimp with ginger and tamari.
