Fabien Duperray’s wines are unique in Beaujolais. After 20 years criss-crossing the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, Fabien Duperray has taken the step of buying vines and the bet of showing that in the great Terrois of Beaujolais it is possible to make wines of a level comparable to the most Burgundian or Rhone crus. The selection of plots was uncompromising, the work of the vines put in the foreground with biodynamic cultivation, very small yields (less than 30hl/ha) on very old vines. An optimal harvest, without destemming, gentle fermentation on indigenous yeasts, then a long maturation of 2 years. In the end, wines marked by pebbles, granite, wines without any of the fermentative aromas of Beaujolais, but on a cherry, a magnificent morello cherry.

Bettane & Desseauve commentary:
Rich attack, lots of substance on the palate, an unusual flesh for the vintage. Note: 17.0  Apogee: 2013 to 2025
