The Hermannshöhle has been recognized for more than a century as the largest terroir in the Nahe. It is a superb steep hillside, facing south, a mixture of grey schist and volcanic rock (porphyry). It makes it possible to produce huge rieslings in dry as well as semi-dry and sweet. The Hermannshöhle Auslese Goldkaspel 2011 is a mellow wine with an extravagant nose, an intoxicating exotic fruitiness, the palate is carried by the minerality and incredible intensity of the terroir. The acidity seems to dance with incredible ease. Sweet Riesling 8.5% 60-year-old vines Manual harvest – yields 20hl/ha Fermentation and ageing in stainless steel tanks.
