AUX BRULEES 2011

The plot occupies 29.50 ares. It is a vine over 65 years old, located in the upper part of the Combe-Brulée. The limestone base is composed of limestone (Prémeaux limestone) with powerful flint aromas. The presence of pebbles (bedded sandstone) on the surface allows for rapid heating. Combined with a steep slope, it also provides a good drainage capacity which allows the vines to react well in wet years.
This plot benefits from the warmth of its south-south-east exposure but also from the coolness created by the air current that descends from the mountain into the valley. This situation of equilibrium, where the two extremes coexist, results in a sensitive wine of great sapidity, refined seduction and airy elegance.
The Vosne-Romanée 1er cru Les Brulées is often the winery’s most subtle 1er cru, capable of an expression combining finesse (rose, peony) and minerality (graphite, smoke, salinity) in a radiance apart.
