The estate’s Volnay Fremiets comes from two small plots, bordering Pommard, for a total area of 39 ares, with an annual production of 1800 bottles on average. Here we find Benjamin Leroux’s desire to make wines without concessions, without makeup. The expression is pure, extremely drawn, with a placement of acidity and minerality that gives its full measure to the terroir. Here we are in a more airy register than on the Clos des Epeneaux, with a brilliance, a brilliance of aromas and tactile sensations that are absolutely bewitching. This wine is more immediately approachable, but is perfectly constituted for ageing and will give a remarkable bottle in about ten years’ time!
