Plot of 48 ares of vines over 65 years old (massal selection).
Close to the village, the plot is located just below the 1er cru Les Suchots. There, the limestone bedrock descends a notch onto limestone at Entroques. The clay-silt soils are deeper (between 60 and 80 cm thick) than in the other plots of Vosne-Romanée “village”. Richer, they allow an easier feeding of the vines. The plot is permanently grassed to invite the roots to plunge down to the limestone substrate.
On these clays, the wine is fleshier and more powerful. The tannins are more pronounced with an architectural character that takes time to polish. Its texture, which is more solid than the estate’s other Vosne-Romanée cuvées, adds extra fullness. Spicy notes often complement ripe fruit (cherry) and more Mediterranean scents (thyme, lavender, sage) characterize this cuvée. The wine should be kept for at least 5 to 7 years.
